Generative AI in Marketing is a practical course in using AI across the work marketers actually do - writing content, making creative, running campaigns and reading the results. It starts with what generative AI is and how it helps marketers, then spends the rest of its time on application.

Module one is about making things: prompt engineering, blog and article content, social posts, ad copy and product descriptions with ChatGPT, marketing images with DALL·E, and video with Synthesia. Module two is about running things: email personalization, paid ads, A/B testing and campaign analysis, with predictive analytics and sentiment analysis alongside.

Theory, hands-on practice, case studies and quizzes throughout - including six case studies on AI-generated video ads, email personalization and AI-driven ad campaigns. It assumes no prior AI or coding experience, and it closes on the part most tool tutorials skip: ethics, brand voice and quality control.

02 Who it's for

Built for the people who have to ship the marketing.

The course FAQ names four audiences. If one of these is you, this is the starting point it was written for.

01 Digital marketers

Running campaigns already

Learn practical ways to use generative AI across content, campaigns and marketing execution - from ad copy to A/B testing.

02 Content creators

Making more, faster

Use AI tools to create and adapt blogs, social content, ads, images and video, without losing the voice you already have.

03 Brand managers

Guarding the brand

Explore AI-powered personalization, content creation and campaign optimization while maintaining brand voice and quality control.

04 Business owners

Marketing on a small team

Understand how generative AI can support marketing workflows, customer engagement and campaign execution when resources are tight.

03 What you'll learn

Four capabilities, in the order they build.

These are the four learning outcomes Coursera lists for the course, grouped the way the work actually splits - making it, running it, measuring it, and doing it responsibly.

Module 1

Create marketing content with AI

Apply ChatGPT, DALL·E and other AI tools to create blog posts, ads, social media, images and video content tailored to brand needs - with the prompting basics that make the output usable.

Module 2

Automate & personalize marketing

Automate marketing workflows with AI, including campaign targeting, personalization, customer segmentation and optimization - applied to email campaigns and customer journeys.

Module 2

Optimize campaign performance

Analyze real-world case studies of AI in digital marketing to connect strategy with measurable performance outcomes - paid ads, A/B testing, predictive analytics and sentiment analysis.

Both modules

Use AI responsibly

Evaluate ethical, creative and strategic considerations when applying AI tools in marketing campaigns - plus maintaining brand voice and quality control as output scales.

06 Career impact

Where these skills show up in marketing work.

Generative AI is not a job title - it is turning into a layer underneath most marketing ones. These are the areas where what this course covers is directly relevant.

Areas where these skills apply

Content Marketing

Blog and article content, social posts and product descriptions - the module one material applies directly to the daily output.

Digital Marketing

Email, social and content channels run together - with AI personalization sitting across all of them.

Brand Management

Maintaining brand voice and quality control as AI output scales - covered explicitly in module two.

Performance Marketing

Paid ads, ad-copy optimization and A/B testing - the core of the second half of the course.

Marketing Analytics

Campaign performance analysis, predictive analytics and sentiment analysis, applied to real case studies.

Marketing Automation

AI-powered workflows for targeting, segmentation and personalization across the customer journey.

Advertising

Writing, testing and optimizing ad copy with AI - including pay-per-click campaigns.

Growth Marketing

Faster creative cycles and more tests per week - which is most of what a growth loop actually needs.

These are areas where the course's skills are relevant. The course does not guarantee a job, a salary, a promotion or any particular campaign result.

The honest comparison

There are a thousand free AI marketing tutorials. So what is this?

Every tool in this course has a free walkthrough somewhere. Nobody is pretending otherwise. What a structured course adds is the order you meet them in, the campaign context around them, and something at the end that says you finished.

About the course

It means using generative AI tools - such as ChatGPT, DALL·E and Synthesia - to create and optimise marketing content and campaigns. In practice that covers blog and article content, social posts, ad copy, product descriptions, marketing images and video, and then using AI for personalization, targeting, A/B testing and campaign analysis. This course covers those applications across two modules.

It combines theory, hands-on practice and case studies. Short video lessons introduce each idea, practical labs have you apply it with the tools, and quizzes check it. Six of the lessons are case studies - on AI-generated video ads, AI-powered email personalization, AI-driven ad campaigns and a final wrap-up case study.

Digital marketers, content creators, brand managers and business owners. It is beginner-friendly throughout and assumes no AI or marketing-technology background.

No. The course is beginner-friendly and does not require prior AI or coding experience. It opens with what generative AI is and how it helps marketers, then covers the basics of AI prompting before anything else is asked of you.
