Impactful Workplace Communication for Career Launch builds effective communication in the workplace from the ground up, through four connected areas: self-awareness and communication, public speaking and presentation, business communication and workplace etiquette, and personal branding and career growth.
The frameworks are the point. You work through SWOT analysis and active listening, storytelling and elevator pitches, professional email and report writing, conflict-resolution techniques, and the GROW model as the career-growth capstone.
Each module pairs short video lessons with readings and four graded quizzes, so what you have understood is checked before you move on. No prior communication training is required to get started.
Built for the start of a career, not the middle of one.
If one of these is you, this is the starting point the course was designed around.

Where you will use it
Day-to-day workplace communication
Verbal, non-verbal and para-verbal communication, the barriers that get in the way, and active listening as the default setting.
Public speaking and presentations
A presentation framework, body language and vocal modulation, storytelling, and strategies for tough audiences and Q&A.
Professional writing
Emails with the right structure and tone, business reports and memos that flow logically, and proofreading that catches the rest.
Meetings, networking and collaboration
Meeting manners and workplace behaviour, professional accountability, hierarchies, small talk and conversation starters.
Feedback, conflict and negotiation
Giving and receiving feedback, win-win conflict resolution, negotiation and mediation, and recognising bias in your own judgments.
Personal branding and career planning
A consistent online and offline presence, a personal tagline, and the GROW model turned into a long-term development plan.
Interview preparation
Elevator pitches, body language, confidence techniques and a personal brand — the parts of an interview that are not about the job description.
Ongoing professional development
Tracking progress, adjusting goals when they slip, revisiting them honestly, and self-assessment that is actually useful.
Stronger communication can support your professional interactions and your career development over time. It is not a guarantee: this course does not promise employment, promotions, salary increases or placement, and nothing here should be read as a specific employer outcome.
The honest comparison
Communication advice is everywhere. So what is this?
Every topic in this course exists free somewhere — in articles, videos and books, much of it excellent. Nobody is pretending otherwise. What a structured course adds is the order you meet the ideas in, the checking that makes them stick, and something to show at the end.

About the course
Students, fresh graduates, career changers and early professionals who want to build effective communication in the workplace. It is a beginner-level course, so no background in communication training is assumed.
Four connected areas across four modules. Module one covers self-awareness with SWOT analysis, growth mindset, goal setting, the types of communication, and active listening. Module two covers public speaking and presentation skills — confidence, body language, vocal modulation, presentation structure, storytelling and elevator pitches. Module three covers professional writing and workplace etiquette — emails, reports and memos, meeting manners, feedback, conflict resolution and negotiation. Module four covers personal branding and the GROW model as your career growth capstone.
No special software is required for this course. Everything is taught through video lectures, readings and practical exercises on Coursera. A notebook for the reflection exercises and goal setting is helpful but optional.
No prior communication training is required to get started. The course opens with self-awareness and the fundamentals of how communication works, and builds from there — public speaking is introduced in module two, after that groundwork.
The course metadata on Coursera lists 1 week to complete at 10 hours a week, across 4 modules. Worth knowing: the course FAQ on the same page separately describes the course as designed for about 2 weeks of study at 10 hours per week across the 4 modules. We are not going to quietly reconcile the two — the official course-level figure is 1 week at 10 hours a week, and the FAQ's roughly-2-weeks line is its own approximate study guidance. Either way the course is self-paced, so the real answer depends on your schedule.
Yes. The course has a flexible schedule and you learn at your own pace — deadlines on Coursera reset around you if you fall behind.
There is a lot of good free material on communication, and this is not an argument against it. The difference is structure: 4 modules in a deliberate order, named frameworks you apply rather than general advice, 16 assignments that check what you actually took in, readings that go deeper than the videos, and a shareable certificate at the end. You also finish with something produced — a personal brand and a GROW-based development plan — rather than a watch history.
The course does not include an assigned personal mentor. What it does include is structured feedback through its graded quizzes and practice quizzes, an in-course plugin in module one, and a discussion prompt in module three — “What Makes Professional Communication Effective?” — for discussion with other learners on Coursera.
Separately, Board Infinity 1:1 coaching is an optional add-on if you want a practitioner working alongside you. It is not part of the Coursera course.
Certificate & career
Yes — a shareable certificate, subject to Coursera's current certificate requirements for the course. It can be added to your LinkedIn profile in one click, listed on a resume or CV, and shared on social media.
It covers several things interviews lean on directly: elevator pitches — what makes one strong, how to structure it for impact, and how to deliver it and take feedback — plus body language and vocal modulation, confidence techniques and handling stage fright, and the personal branding work in module four. No course can guarantee interview success, but these are the parts of an interview that are not about the job description.
Broadly, any role where work happens through other people — which is most of them. The skills here apply in client-facing and customer-facing work, team collaboration, any role that involves meetings or presentations, roles with a lot of written reporting, and coordination or team-lead responsibilities. They are equally relevant to students and fresh graduates preparing for a first role, and to career changers entering a new setting.
We are not going to attach a salary figure to that. Board Infinity does not claim guaranteed employment, promotions, salary increases or placement from this course.
Access, pricing & the specialization
The price is shown at checkout on the Coursera course page and can vary by region, so that page is the only reliable source. The course is available through Coursera's 7-day free trial, and financial aid or a scholarship is available to eligible learners who cannot afford the enrollment fee.
As soon as you enroll, and then on your own schedule. Exactly what is unlocked depends on your enrollment type — Coursera's own course page sets out what a free trial, a paid enrollment and a subscription each include, and grading and certificates require a paid enrollment.
This course is course 1 of the Career Launchpad Essentials: SOP, Resume & Interview Prep Specialization. Subscribing to the specialization gives you access to all four courses — this one, SOP Writing Mastery, Step-by-Step Resume Building, and Complete Interview Prep — and the work you do here counts toward it. You can also take this course on its own.
Yes — if you cannot afford the enrollment fee, you can apply for financial aid or a scholarship through Coursera. The application is on the Coursera course page, and the decision is Coursera's.
