01 About the course
One course that goes from install to secured dashboard.
Coursera describes this course as designed for people moving from beginner to advanced Power BI use – so that data insights drive informed decisions and impactful presentation.
It starts where every Power BI project actually starts: installing Power BI Desktop, understanding its different offerings, connecting your data sources and finding your way around the interface.
From there the course moves into the part most tutorials skip – the PowerQuery Editor, data transformations and DAX functions, so raw data is actually fit for analysis before anything is visualised.
Module two builds on that foundation: relationships between data sources, visualizations and advanced visualization techniques, dashboards, then data security and handling and best practices for effective data management.
Learning happens through hands-on experiences, real-world applications and guided instruction: 19 video lessons, four readings and five assignments across the two modules.

1:1 coaching · optional add-on
Learn Power BI with someone in your corner.
A dedicated coach who builds reports for a living – someone who can look at the model you have stared at for an hour and tell you why the numbers are wrong.
60-minute demo session · 100% refundable · no obligation to continue. Coaching is a separate Board Infinity service and is not part of this Coursera course.
Get unstuck in minutes
The DAX measure returning the wrong total, explained by someone who has debugged it before.
Your model reviewed
Not just whether the report renders – whether the relationships and transformations will hold up.
Practice beyond the quizzes
Datasets set for you, then reviewed, so transformation and DAX turn into fluency.

06 Career impact
Skills that complement data and business-intelligence workflows.
Power BI skills sit alongside data analysis, business intelligence, reporting, dashboard creation, data visualization, transformation, modeling, storytelling and data management. Below is where that work usually shows up – not a promise about any particular job.
Role contexts where these skills are used
Data Analyst
Preparing, transforming and analysing data, then presenting what it shows.
Business Intelligence Analyst
Modeling relationships across sources and maintaining dashboards people rely on.
Reporting Analyst
Recurring reporting where the transformation steps have to be repeatable and correct.
Business Analyst
Turning operational data into the evidence behind a decision.
Data visualization-focused roles
Data storytelling – making the chart say the thing the data actually says.
Roles handling sensitive data
Data security and handling practices for protecting information inside Power BI.
The honest comparison
A structured course versus picking it up as you go
Plenty of good Power BI material is free, and some of it is excellent. The difference is not quality – it is sequence, coverage and whether anything checks that you actually learned it. Here is what this course gives you, stated plainly.
Scattered self-studyYou decide the order, usually after hitting the gap
Transformation and DAX togetherNot treated as separate topics
This coursePowerQuery Editor, data transformations and DAX in one module
Scattered self-studyUsually separate tutorials that assume each other
Something that grades youWhether you know it, not whether you watched it
This courseFive assignments, including a graded quiz for the course
Scattered self-studyRarely any assessment at all
Data security includedThe part that gets skipped
This courseData security and handling, plus best practices, in module two
Scattered self-studyOften left out entirely in visualization-first material

07 Where to go next
Power BI is the surface. Here's what sits underneath it.
Once installation, transformation, DAX, dashboards and security are in place, these are the directions that usually follow.
Go deeper
More demanding models and DAX
The natural next step is harder modelling: more sources, more relationships, and DAX measures that have to be right rather than merely plausible. Everything in module one is the prerequisite for that.
Go wider
Analytics and business intelligence
Power BI sits inside a bigger analytics practice – how data arrives, how it is governed, and how reporting fits the way an organisation actually makes decisions.
Go sharper
Data storytelling and presentation
Data Storytelling and Data Presentation are two of the skills this course lists. Developing them further is what separates a dashboard people open from one they ignore.
